Fortune Favors the Brave:
A Transformative Journey
Humble beginnings often lead to extraordinary paths. As an educator, business owner, entrepreneur, community advocate, volunteer, writer, public speaker, published author, mentor, coach, and parent, I have embraced the challenges life has thrown my way with courage and resilience. My journey has taught me that fortune indeed favors the brave, and that every challenge is an opportunity to ask, "What's possible here?"
I cherished my career as a teacher and vice principal, but life had other plans. When my husband passed away from cancer shortly after his 51st birthday, my world shifted. In the midst of profound grief, I bravely stepped into the role of sole owner and CEO of Aquarian Renovations. Under my leadership, this award-winning company thrived, built on a foundation of strong values, entrepreneurial principles, and a culture of growth, excellence, and diversity.
My drive to lead extended beyond the walls of my business. I became deeply involved in the business community, seeing my role as a builder of possibility and connection—not just for myself, but for others and the organizations I was privileged to work with. A highlight of this journey was my years of service on the board of the Canadian Home Builders Association Edmonton Region (CHBA ER), where I championed leadership goals to improve quality, consistency, and public awareness of professionalism within the construction and renovation industry. As a strong advocate for women in leadership, I encouraged and modeled the way for others to step up and make their voices heard at the boardroom level.
In 2020, when the world faced the uncertainty of the pandemic, I had the honour of chairing the CHBA ER board. My experience in remaining calm, focused, and steady—without the need for fanfare—proved invaluable during those turbulent times.
Now, I bring this wealth of experience, and the lessons learned from life’s most challenging moments to my work as a mentor and coach. I am here to guide you on your transformative journey, helping you rediscover your strength, embrace new possibilities, and thrive in the face of adversity.
